Appliance spacing starts with the classic work triangle between your sink, stove, and refrigerator, keeping enough clearance between each so you can move comfortably while cooking. As a general guide, allow at least 15 inches of counter space next to the stove for landing hot pans, 24 inches beside the sink for prep and cleanup, and clear walkways of at least 36 inches between appliances and counters. Every kitchen is different, though, and small changes in appliance placement can make a big difference in how the space actually functions.
